Hormone Replacement and Balancing Therapy

Research has shown that our hormone levels begin to drop with age, usually around age 30 and continue to decline with age until menopause in women and andropause in men occurs in their forties to early fifties.  This necessitates for most the need for some kind of hormone replacement and balancing therapy.  Women can suffer a variety of symptoms including pain in the breasts, feelings of bloating after eating, unexplained weight gain, insomnia, depression and anxiety, arthritis, loss of calcium and lower bone density, thinnning hair, among other things.

Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy is the use of supplemental doses of hormones that have a chemical structure molecularly identical to the hormones that the human body naturally produces.  Bioidentiical Hormone Replacement Therapy treats the symptoms of menopause, peri-menopause and post-menopause.  Many of the bioidentical hormones used are made from soybeans and wild yams which are processed chemically to produce unique compounds that are made into identical replicas of the hormones created by the body. The major benefit of this treatment is that doses are individualized proportions in mixtures of products not commercially available in mass-produced products.

Bioidentical hormones differ radically from synthetic hormone replacement drugs in that they are metabolized, stored and converted into other hormones naturally.  Bioidentical hormones are natural and organic and are easily accepted by the body while synthetic hormones can often contain impurities due to patent requirements which are chemically quite strong and produce unbearable side effects.  European medical studies suggest that bioidentical hormones are safer than synthetic versions.  Catagories of Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy include the natural estrogens, including Estrone, Estradol, and Estriol, as well as natural Progesterone and natural Androgens.
